Kitchen Toys

These are my new toys. I actually received them about a week ago, but had problems uploading the photo. It is a set of English Baking Canisters. They are beautiful light tan stoneware with very nice gasket seals inside. I love them. They are huge. The flour canister holds a whopping 10 pounds as does the sugar canister, while the brown sugar one holds 3 lbs. I am not a daily baker, but I do bake often enough that a typical canister set can be a pain when you have to refill them constantly. It is a serious hobby. Today, I baked mint chocolate chip cookies to send with one of my college boys.

In my list of favorite things, I mentioned kitchen gadgets. These are not quite considered gadgets, but they are for the kitchen and they do make me happy. They rate right up there with my cookbook collection. I may have to post a photo of that at a later date.

I love those canisters! And I bet they look fabulous in your "new" kitchen. It doesn't really matter how long you've had that kitchen, it will still be new to me.

Hey, can you post your Snickerdoodle recipe for a needy niece?

I love the canisters too. They are sweet! As for posting "a photo" of your cookbook collection, I'm pretty sure it would need to be "photos".

What I wouldn't do to find a way to get you to come up here and bake with me for a few days. We'd have to buy another freezer. That is.....until you saw the price of butter and other ingredients.

I just sent my beloved to the grocery store - he says another snow storm is coming in. I'm low on baking ingredients, and am hoping that he decides following my list is okay for once. I think it kills him to buy butter. Oh well, at least it's not Crisco.....

missing you, but loving the blog

Inkling-
I would LOVE to do a baking marathon with you. Maybe there is a special grant we could apply for.
I think from reading your blog that you bake more than I do!
Miss you too.

Awesome canisters... country, but cool too!! I love country, but not toooo country!! My dad would love those for his bread baking supplies. The things he has aren't big enough to hold many ingredients so he's always got a bag or two sitting on the shelf to be used.
